The night that Dave Annable proposed to Odette Yustman over Valentine’s Day weekend, the freshly-engaged pair had an intimate dinner: with their parents!
“I [proposed] at a place where we fell in love,” the Brothers and Sisters actor, 30, told UsMagazine.com at Saturday’s 8th Annual World Poker Invitational at L.A.’s Commerce Casino.
“It was in Santa Barbara [Calif.], and I surprised her with her parents and my parents after [the proposal]. We went to the [hotel] restaurant…and our parents were there waiting. It was pretty rad! She was very surprised.”
Ever since the October Road actress, 24, accepted, “we’ve been celebrating for over a week straight,” Annable said. “I’m engaged man, now! It’s pretty exciting.”
The couple — dating for about a year and a half –”want to get married this year,” Annable said. “As for the plans, I think I did the hard work, the engagement, so I’m like, ‘I think I’ll give it to you. Whatever you want!’”
Family planning? “I want kids sooner than later,” Annable said.
Yustman, also at Saturday’s poker event, told Us, “Listen, if it happens, it happens. But I’d like to wait a few years. Let’s travel. Let’s do the whole thing, but he is ready before I am. He is ready now!”

Dave Annable of “Brothers & Sisters” fame has proposed to his actress girlfriend Odette Yustman and she said yes. The pair is engaged and reportedly is planning to have the wedding held later this year although no date has been set.
Annable and the “Cloverfield” actress have been dating over a year now. He was seeing co-star Emily VanCamp, who happens to play his on-screen wife on “Brothers & Sisters”, up to 2008 while Yustman broke her engagement to actor Trevor Wright in 2007.
Annable asked Yustman to marry him last weekend in Santa Barbara, People reports. They join a string of celebrities in Tinseltown who got engaged during the Valentine’s Day week. Joel Madden and Nicole Richie announced theirs first before Madden’s ex Hilary Duff announced hers with Mike Comrie on Friday, February 19.

Bad romances and television have gone together since the beginning of the medium. There’ve been entire series about dysfunctional relationships, not to mention all the shows built around the chemistry and tension between two people. Sometimes when those folks hook up, the pairing actually works dramatically. But all too often, instead of being fun or sexy, the results are awkward and excruciatingly painful to watch. In honor of Valentine’s week, we’ve ranked our least favorite couples from current programs. In some cases, the writers have already wisely chosen to split them up. But in other cases, we’re still stuck with them week after annoying week.
5. Rebecca and Justin (Brothers & Sisters)
Once we got over the fact that they used to be siblings, their relationship quickly went Walker, communication-wise, and stayed that way. From Justin’s life devolving into a Huntington Learning Center “Face it! I’m not getting to be a doctor!” commercial to Rebecca being too scared to tell him she’s knocked up (a great sign!) to their multitude of loud, distracting fights at their multiple engagement parties, they have one of the saddest, most dysfunctional relationships (romantic or otherwise) on a show full of nothing but sad, dysfunctional relationships — and they don’t even have being old and curmudgeonly as an excuse like Nora and Saul do.

Over at The Kress in Hollywood, Dave Annable and girlfriend Odette Yustman remained by each other’s sides all night at The Original Retro Brand’s “‘Twas The Night Before…” BCS bash. “They were holding hands and joking about how Odette is the sports fanatic in the relationship,” says a guest.

Randy in Minneapolis: I loved last week’s Grey’s crossover with Bailey! She killed it. Is there anything good you can share on Grey’s or Private Practice?
I’m told by insiders that there should be at least two more crossovers before the season is through, though they have yet to hammer out details. So place your requests to Shonda for who’s next in the comments below! In the meantime, I can tell you that I heard there might be a little swap-a-roonie in the works for Justin (Dave Annable) of Brothers & Sisters to cross over to Private Practice (since Justin is now in med school), but a rep at ABC says it’s not happening. Hmph.
While his character on Brothers and Sisters got stuck with an engagement and a trip to medical school, actor Dave Annable doesn’t mind the extra work so much. Two storylines for the new season is simply even more drama for the show, which is a pretty sweet deal.
On his interview with TV Guide, the 30-year-old star revealed how his character develops throughout the course of the series. With his decision to pursue his doctor dream, there’s bound to be some conflicts rising as he works on his relationship with Rebecca (Emily VanCamp).
“We’re really trying to tell the truth of how chaotic his life has become,” Annable told the publication. “Justin gets very frustrated — he doesn’t know where to allot his time. The relationship has suffered from the lack of time that they have spent together. For Rebecca, the wedding is such a special moment in their lives, and obviously for Justin his attention is somewhere else.”
It’s time that’s getting in the way of their growth as a couple, but certainly not effort. “So Rebecca feels that maybe Justin isn’t giving it everything he’s got,” the actor went on. “But he actually is; that’s the sad part of it. He’s just too busy and is having a difficult time dealing with it.”
Part of being busy was not making it on time for the engagement bash we saw on the premiere of Brothers and Sisters. “Justin is actually so stressed with school that he really doesn’t even have time for the engagement party. He shows up late and that becomes another issue with Rebecca.”
Despite that, there’s still the bright side of having a 16-year-old prodigy for a lab partner in med school. Annable says of Denzel Whitaker’s character: “The character is like Doogie Howser; he is so ahead of his time. He wants to be the youngest guy to do everything, so he’s put a lot of pressure on Justin. I think it takes Justin by surprise, but it also makes him want to work that much harder. Eventually it’s going to be a symbiotic relationship. They learn from each other.”
Still, another Walker wedding might not be far for Justin and Rebecca. “If the writers end up going down that road, hopefully it will be something special and something fans of our show will remember for a long time.”
