Bad romances and television have gone together since the beginning of the medium. There’ve been entire series about dysfunctional relationships, not to mention all the shows built around the chemistry and tension between two people. Sometimes when those folks hook up, the pairing actually works dramatically. But all too often, instead of being fun or sexy, the results are awkward and excruciatingly painful to watch. In honor of Valentine’s week, we’ve ranked our least favorite couples from current programs. In some cases, the writers have already wisely chosen to split them up. But in other cases, we’re still stuck with them week after annoying week.

Once we got over the fact that they used to be siblings, their relationship quickly went Walker, communication-wise, and stayed that way. From Justin’s life devolving into a Huntington Learning Center “Face it! I’m not getting to be a doctor!” commercial to Rebecca being too scared to tell him she’s knocked up (a great sign!) to their multitude of loud, distracting fights at their multiple engagement parties, they have one of the saddest, most dysfunctional relationships (romantic or otherwise) on a show full of nothing but sad, dysfunctional relationships — and they don’t even have being old and curmudgeonly as an excuse like Nora and Saul do.
